Collection Officer

Stand Against Violence (SAV) is a UK registered violence prevention and reduction charity based in the South West. Created following the murder of Lloyd Fouracre in 2005, SAV seeks to prevent further mindless violence through using Lloyd’s tragic story.
Volunteers are key to supporting this aim and this role description will give you an idea of one of the many ways you can get involved.

Thank you for your interest in supporting us.

Why choose this role?

Fundraising is vital to the growth and expansion of the charity. SAV became a registered charity in 2010 and began as a small, Taunton based campaign in 2005.  SAV receives no government funding and it is through a combination of fundraising and applying for grants that the charity has grown to cover the South West.
Without voluntary donations and the added awareness raising that this activity brings, it will be impossible for SAV to develop and achieve the charity’s aims.
This role is flexible as but requires day time commitment to coincide with the businesses you will be liaising.
Volunteering is a great source of experience, skill building/sharing and regular volunteering can make for an impressive reference for your CV.  All SAV volunteers are provided with a reference and certificate on request.

What could you be doing?

The key activities of this role are:
·
·         To develop new relationships between organisations and SAV in order to establish new sites for static pots
·         To monitor the performance of the collection pots
·         To routinely empty and service pots
·         To complete and maintain the required records clearly and accurately
·         The Collection Officer will be immediately accountable to the charity treasurer who will be the Chief Promoter

What previous experience/skills do you need to have?

No previous volunteering experience is necessary and the flexible nature of this role makes this the perfect opportunity for a first-time volunteer.

This role could be for you if you are:
·         Enthusiastic about making a difference to your local community.
·         Passionate about preventing and reducing violence.
·         Confident talking to the general public.
·         Reliable and willing to attend events you have committed to punctually.
·         It is desirable if you are able to travel independently however, there will be many fundraising events locally and travelling a greater distance to events that are farther away is optional.

How much of your time does this role require?

The amount of time you commit is up to you although we ask that you give a minimum of an hour for each event that you wish to help with. In general shifts last for two hours but we have chosen to make this opportunity as flexible as possible.

How will you be supported and trained?

Both support and training will be provided by either a SAV trustee or a lead volunteer.

How do you get started?

If you would like to volunteer please email Adam Fouracre at  a.fouracre@sav-ed.co.uk or alternatively you can visit www.sav-ed.co.uk/volunteer
